2022 Heart Mantra Annual Letter
December 2022
This is the time of the year when Heart Mantra Foundation gives thanks to You! You are making a positive difference and touching lives around the world in a very meaningful way. Your kind heart is the bright light of hope for a better way of life for so many.
This past year with your assistance we:
(1) Repaired the water drainage problem which led to the unsafe structural problems at the Bon Children’s Welfare Center in Dholanji, India. The dangerous exterior conditions were repaired, as well as, the interior dorm rooms damaged by the water. After re-wiring, electricity was restored to the children’s hostel.
(2) Solved another water drainage issue that was compromising the stability of the temple structure at the Redna Menling Nunnery, Dholanji, India. The main temple was at risk of collapsing. With extensive construction, the water drainage was re-routed and the base of the structure safely reinforced. This building stands between two dormitory buildings for the girls and nuns who care for them.
(3) Provided funds for Phase #2 - Restoration of 15th Century Tibetan Bӧn Temple in Nepal which was built to protect animals from hunters at Lake Phuksundo, Dolpo, Nepal. In Phase #1, the ceiling, roof, and flooring were replaced with wood from the same forest that was used for the original structure 600 years ago. Phase #2 is now underway with restoration of the interior walls and authentic Tibetan paintings & statues.
(4) Provided Covid test kits, acupuncture needles, and medical supplies to the Tibetan Medicine College of Sorig Bumzhi Menri Ling, Dholanji, India.
(5) Provided funds for minor surgical & medical procedures for three of the children in Dholanji.
(6) Contributed financial support to the Children’s Tibetan Cultural Education Program in Bhijer, Upper Dolpo, Nepal.
Future funds are needed for:
(1) Children’s Welfare Center in India:
· Solar Panels: Ten solar panels to heat water for the children and their kitchen.
· Inside Wall Construction for an up-to-date library, art room, & study hall for the children. Electrical wiring, furniture & supplies are also needed. The estimated cost is $15,000 to complete this educational infrastructure project.
(2) Phase #3 - Cultural Preservation Project: We need $10,000 to complete the restoration of the inside of the ancient temple & small historical museum. As one of only three ancient Tibetan Bӧn temples outside of Chinese occupied Tibet, it will be registered as an official historic site which will draw tourists to this impoverished area. Most of the temples within Tibet have been destroyed. Your assistance will help save this Tibetan temple for many generations to come.
We can accomplish these projects with your help! Donate from your Heart! No amount is too small or too big!
